1. Place 3 or 4 ice cubes in a plastic freezer bag. Press the bag to remove air and seal tightly.

2. Place the ice pack directly on the gum. Let it sit there for five to 10 minutes to harden the gum.

3. Scrape the brittle rubber mat with a spoon or spatula. Undermine the gum until it breaks into small pieces.

4. Vacuum the carpet thoroughly to pick up the pieces of gum. Continue chipping away at the rubber and then vacuum the carpet until    the gum is gone.

5. Dampen a cloth with cleaning solvent to remove the last traces of gum stuck in the carpet fibers. Rub the stain with rubber rag and cleaning solvent until it is gone.

6. Combine 1 cup of warm water and 1/4 tsp. of mild soap in a bowl. Dip a cloth in the soapy water and scrub the affected area of ​​the carpet to remove any residual fluid cleaning the gum area. Dry with a dry cloth to absorb excess moisture.
