Parrots needs lots of space– Generally, Parrots needs to have ample space in their cage. Their cages need to be spacious for it is where they have to stretch their wings freely, a place where they can play and it is also a place where they eat. The ideal size of the cage should also be proportionate to the size of the Parrot, thus a Cockatiels cage should be relatively smaller than that of a Cockatoo.
Parrots cannot live with seeds and pellets alone- The food that your parrots should eat must be variety of foods and it should also be nutritious. Generally, Parrots needs the same nutritional requirement as what humans require. Ideally you should feed them with fresh fruits like Apple, Pear, Strawberries, Peach and Pineapple. Great vegetables to feed your parrots are carrots, spinach, potatoes, corn and cauliflower. There are also foods that you must not give to your pet Parrot and one good example would be chocolate.
Parrots are naturally vocal, this means that part of their nature is to talk, screech and scream. Always remind yourself with this and never scold them for doing so. Since, Parrots are naturally noisy you must also consider your location and your neighbors.
Parrots needs proper grooming- Your Parrot needs to be bathe at least once a week, their beaks and claws must be trimmed regularly for it to not cause any harm to others. It is also important for Parrots to be in a clean place, as there can never be a creature that will remain happy and healthy in a dirty cage. So, it is important that we will clean our Parrot cage at least once a week to promote not only our pet’s health but also ours.
Parrot demands for their owner’s time and attention- Parrots are one of the most intelligent animals around, so it is important that they will get intellectual stimulation and interaction from their owners. Parrots like attention thus they should be place in the part of the house where your family spend most of the time. If a parrot will be left alone for a long time they may get bored and stressed, if this will happen there is a big possibility that your pet will develop an unruly Parrot behaviour.
